The City of Casey’s Economic Development Strategy 2021-25 sets a bold plan to strengthen our economy's resilience and diversity.
By 2025, the City of Casey will be a regional leader driving economic diversity, with quality and accessible jobs of choice, and an increasingly skilled and capable workforce.
Casey’s current economy is heavily geared towards population serving sectors with the most jobs found in – Health and Social Assistance, Retail Trade, Construction and Education and Training. These dominant strategic sectors are growing strongly as a result of established businesses and supply chains, a demanding consumer market and access to suitable workers.
Council will make way for a competitive and resilient future economy by shifting its focus to fostering innovation within these strategic sectors; this includes supporting businesses in these sectors to adopt sustainable practices (eg. circular economy) and high-tech applications (IOT, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence).
In addition to retaining and adapting strategic sectors, Council will actively pursue new and emerging sectors in Casey.
